Year 8
As Head of Year it gives me great pleasure in outlining the key events that students will experience during this academic year.
As Head of Year it gives me great pleasure to work with your child during the second year of Key Stage 3
As students return from the summer holidays, they are no longer the youngest in the school. They are now seen as role models
to the new students in Year 7 and their achievements are an inspiration for these students to follow in their footsteps.
Our Key Stage 3 curriculum continues to build on the work from Year 7 as students start an important journey towards Year 9 when they will select their GCSE options. During Year 8 we add an additional modern foreign language to your child’s timetable and they no longer continue ‘Philosophy for Children’ from Year 7.
The Summer Term is a real highlight when students are given the opportunity to attend the Modern Foreign Language Trip to with Spain, Germany or France. Each trip includes a variety of cultural experiences providing students with the chance to practise their speaking and listening skills. They are always fantastic trips enjoyed by both staff and students and offer an insight into different countries that students may not have experienced before.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at school if you have any further questions about Year 8.
