As students return from the summer holidays, they are no longer the youngest in the school. They are now seen as role models to the new students in Year 7, therefore behaviour should be exemplary and their achievements should be an inspiration for these students to follow in their footsteps.
They have two excellent PSHE days planned. The first in September, will focus on charity and fundraising in a form team challenge, what happens when relationship breakdown and also social media and sexting. The second looks at enterprise skills, money management and budgeting.
The school’s curriculum enrichment programme will once again be packed with a number of opportunities. Students will be offered the chance to take part in the Year 8 drama production and to attend the Religious Studies visit to the Mosque. There are two international trips for Year 8, including the Ski Trip to the USA and Rugby Tour to Europe. I encourage students to immerse themselves as much as possible in this programme as it is an integral part of school life at Coopers Coborn.
All students are given the opportunity to attend the Modern Foreign Language Trip to with Spain, Germany or France. Each trip includes a variety of cultural experiences providing students with the chance to practise their speaking and listening skills. They are always fantastic trips enjoyed by both staff and students and offer an insight into different countries that students may not have experienced before.
