Headteacher’s Welcome
On behalf of the staff, students and Governors of The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. This is a school steeped in history and tradition, with a dynamic and forward-looking approach to education in the 21st century.
The School dates back to 1536, and a wealth of information regarding the history of the School can be found here on our website. We are exceptionally grateful to continue to have the support of The Worshipful Company of Coopers’. This link to an ancient livery company gives us a unique aspect; through this link we have additional support and opportunities available to our students. This wealth of opportunity and experience is one of the many things which helps to make The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School such a vibrant and distinctive educational community.
Our mission is very clear: to be outstanding in all that we do and to help produce young adults who are capable of extraordinary things. We have three main pillars to our provision – academic excellence, Love as Brethren (our motto and our philosophy) and extracurricular opportunities. We reference these three pillars frequently with staff, students and parents; they are the key aspects of school life here, they are all equally important to us as a School, and we are very proud of them.
We understand the importance of academic excellence, and place great emphasis on students working hard and achieving the best exam results they can, as can be evidenced by our routinely outstanding GCSE and A Level results. Our thriving Sixth Form ensures that our students go on to achieve great levels of success in a range of destinations, such as Russell Group Universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, as well as high quality degree apprenticeships and work placements.
We also understand that our role as a centre of educational excellence is not just to ensure academic success, but to also offer students a rich and varied diet; a diet which enables them to experience other cultures via our extensive catalogue of trips abroad, which challenges them in sport, music, drama and art, a diet which helps them to become well rounded members of society. Our extra-curricular provision is second to none, with the School routinely offering in excess of one hundred clubs and activities. We are committed to the belief that students should involve themselves in all aspects of school life, including participation in our extra-curricular offer.
Underpinning all that we do is our motto, ‘Love as Brethren’. This Christian value encapsulates the ethos of our multi-faith school, and provides a guide for our students in terms of their behaviour, attitudes and appearance. This motto means that The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School is more than just a school. It is a family and a community, bound together by ‘Love as Brethren’. We place charity, tolerance and respect at the heart of all we do, and we ensure that those values are instilled in all our students.
I hope that this website provides an introduction into the School and our ambitions, expectations and values for all our students. However, a School such as ours cannot be fully captured in a website and so if you would like to find out more about the School, do please contact us.
