KS3 Curriculum
In Years 7-9 (Key Stage 3) we operate a two-week timetable with 5 lessons per day and 6 on a Wednesday, totalling 52 hours over the fortnight.
The extra lesson on a Wednesday is a rotational lesson to cover the 25 lessons that would be missed with the introduction of a 2-week Autumn half term. Over the course of the year this provides an extra 38 hours, some of which are used to deliver our new PSHE curriculum.
The National Curriculum is taught from Years 7 to 11.
- In Year 7 all students follow courses in: English, Mathematics, Science, Design & Technology, Computer Science, a Modern Foreign Language, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Art, Music, Philosophy for Children, Food & Nutrition, Drama, Physical Education and PSHE
- Year 8 students follow a similar pattern with the introduction of a second Modern Foreign Language and the withdrawal of Philosophy for Children. This structure is continued into Year 9.
- During Year 9, the students choose the subjects they wish to continue with, or start for the first time, at GCSE.
- Students are taught in mixed ability classes
