The Coopers' Company and Coborn School

Welcome to the Psychology Department. Psychology is an exciting A level subject that is taught by Mr Ferreira and Mrs Harries. We both have Psychology degrees and have moved into Psychology because of its ability to challenge us as well as answer questions about people and their behaviour. We are a very open and friendly department. Each of us will teach every Psychology student in year 12 and year 13. This means that we take personal interest in you as a person and care about how you enjoy the subject and how much you can learn form doing Psychology at Coopers’ Coborn. We have two teaching room R7 and R10 and we can be located in the Social Sciences Office R20.

One of the most common questions asked by students new to the study of Psychology is "What is psychology?" Misperceptions created by popular media as well as the diverse career paths of those holding Psychology degrees have contributed to this confusion.

Psychology is both an applied and academic field that studies the human mind and behaviour. Research in Psychology seeks to understand and explain thought, emotion, and behaviour. Applications of psychology include mental health treatment, performance enhancement, self-help, ergonomics, and many other areas affecting health and daily life.
