|Welcome to the Physical Education Faculty & Sports College|
We became a Specialist Sports College in 2002. The department consists of 11 staff that have a variety of roles appertaining to the school and the specialism. In our recent OFSTED inspection the following observations were made “The school’s Specialist College Status in Sports and more recently Humanities enables it to enrich the teaching of all subjects. Students benefit from exceptionally rich provision of extra curricular activities. It has produced many examples of students who excel at sports”.
The school enjoys extensive sporting facilities including a flood lit all weather pitch, sports hall, gymnasium, swimming pool as well playing fields and a hard court area with two newly laid tennis courts.
The department through the curriculum aims to provide students with a broad and balanced curriculum with traditional sports such as rugby, tennis, hockey complimenting exciting and innovative activities; outdoor education, trampolining and indoor rowing.
Students are encouraged to work hard within their lessons and expand their knowledge and skills in the vast extra curricular programme. Extra curricular provision is wide and varied and all students have the opportunity to participate at their own level in both competitive and recreational activities.
Successes range from local and regional to national and even international.
The department offers examinations in GCSE Physical Education with numbers currently the highest to date as well as AS and A2 examinations at sixth form level.
