This is an annual competition run by The London Borough of Havering to showcase exceptionally talented artists. It is sponsored by The Havering Decorative and Fine Arts Society. This year sixty Key Stage 3 students were selected to enter from schools across the borough.

Judging was hard as the pieces were of a very high calibre. Judges were Susan Neville, Maureen McKenzie and Peter Norris, either local artists or members of the The Decorative and Fine Arts Society. The winning painting by Rhea Randhawa was of a still life group consisting of a goblet of water against a dark background with several onions in front of it. It was painted from a photograph she had composed in the ‘Reflections’ Scheme of work. It was judged to have been beautifully painted with outstanding skill in the representation of the three dimensional objects. The judge said ‘You could really feel like you could pick the onion up, it looked so lifelike’.
